Gumboot Friday

                                       Gumboot Friday

Last Friday some of Te Waka Ako wore gumboots to support mental health.
We also made some cards and wrote positive and nice messages  on the cards. There was at least 100 cards we each got two cards each so in each group you should at least have 10 to 14 cards. If we ran out we had to come back to school we only went from school to up Glass road to Hillsborough road. we even delivered it to somebody in Te Waka Ako. People donated nearly 1 million dollars for Gumboot Friday one of the students in the Healthy Puketapapa Student questionnaire gave this idea to the teachers and the teachers decided to do it
We Went to put the cards in letter boxes. They decided it be on gumboot Friday it also links in with our inquiry topic Well-Being. We gave cards to people that thought could need them and today we got an email  from a mother that her son read it and got lifted by it. We also got another email from the old Deputy Principal saying she got a card and she also got so surprised and she also got lifted by the message on it, she even took a photo of it And sent it to Sally also sent to us. Some people even made five cards or even 6
Cards. We all went in different directions one of the groups went to Glass Road and the others went Hillsborough Road or just a little further than the others the people that got in their letter box they can send it further than we went. Here is an example of mental health pretend the gumboots is your mental health and the mud is the bad thoughts about you and your wading through it if you struggle you have bad mental health if you don’t you got good mental health it was the best time of my day.
